FAQs
How do I book tickets?
On our website, click on the show you want to see and this will take you directly to an information & booking page, where you can select the dates you want.
Or call 01926 776 438 and our friendly Box Office Assistants will be more than happy to help you. Alternatively, you can visit our Box Office on the Myton Road. You are always welcome, and there is ample free parking at the front of the school site directly opposite the theatre.
I don’t want to commit to purchasing tickets now. Can I reserve tickets until I know for sure?
We can hold your tickets for you if you would like to pay later. A limited number of tickets may be reserved in advance and held without payment for up to 10 days, or 30 minutes before a performance by which time payment must be made to confirm the booking. If a performance sells out in the meantime we may contact you and ask for payment to secure your tickets before offering them to customers on our waiting list. Please note that we will not contact you to inform you that the deadline for payment has passed, so please pay as soon as possible to ensure that you confirm your seat.
When is the Box Office open?
Our Box Office is open 10am – 5.30pm, Monday – Friday. We open 10am – 2pm on Saturdays and we are closed on Sundays. We will always open 1 hour before a show is due to commence and the Box Office will then close half an hour after the performance has begun.
I have rung the Box Office repeatedly, but I don’t get an answer. What should I do?
Our Box Office is manned constantly during opening hours. If your call has not been answered it may mean that all of our Box Office assistants are dealing with other customers either over the telephone or at the counter. In both cases if no one is available to take your call an answer-phone service is in operation. Please leave a message with your name and telephone number and we will attempt to contact you the same day. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased online.
What form of payment do you accept?
We accept payment by cash, Visa, Delta, American Express, MasterCard, Maestro, Electron and Solo.
Do you accept Vouchers / Theatre Tokens?
No, the Bridge House does not accept vouchers or tokens and does not sell gift vouchers of any kind.
Can I exchange my tickets or be refunded?
Once paid for all sales are final; there are no refunds or exchanges. We do not offer refunds on tickets except in the case of a cancelled performance, where a full refund will be offered.
Occasionally, tickets may be exchanged for a different date within the same production (subject to availability) for a fee of 50p per ticket. If there are no alternative dates that you are able to attend we can attempt to re-sell your tickets on your behalf (if we have sold all other tickets first) and you will be charged a fee of £1 per ticket.
Is there a booking fee?
We do not charge a fixed ‘booking fee’. However, additional charges do apply:
When paying by debit or credit card, either over the telephone or in person, there is a £1 administration charge per transaction. This is non-refundable and covers the costs of operating the service. Cash and cheque transactions are exempt from charges.
Purchases online online are subject to an administration fee of £2.50 per transaction. Again, this covers the cost of hosting the online facility and processing credit cards and is also non-refundable.
Tickets sent out by post incur an additional fixed charge of £1 to cover the costs of the service. You may opt to collect your tickets from our Box Office before the performance free of charge.
Don’t you already make enough money from tickets? Why do you charge these fees?
As with most ‘receiving theatres’, the majority of the productions at the Bridge House are brought to us by external companies. These companies take the majority share of the Box Office income and the Bridge House receives a relatively small amount of the ticket price that you pay.
We wish to offer our customers the best possible service, but we must also cover the direct costs involved in providing it. We prefer to try and keep ticket prices as low as possible and give our customers transparent choices rather than making these charges mandatory by including them in the ticket price or compulsory booking fees.
Shouldn’t these fees come out of your profits?
The Bridge House Theatre trades as part of Warwick School Enterprises Limited and its operation is supplemented directly by Warwick School, a charity. We receive no additional funding and we are a non-profit making organisation. The Bridge House could not possibly cover its operating costs without this support from Warwick School. As a charitable trust the school is unable to ‘absorb’ any costs associated with presenting performances. The quality of the performances we present relies on what we can earn at the box office and in sales of programmes, merchandise, ice creams, and refreshments etc. Any income must be re-invested into the theatre and its work.
Why are your tickets so expensive?
We do not often set the ticket prices, as that is the responsibility of the promoter of the show. However, we do strongly advise visiting companies on suitable prices and negotiate the cheapest price we can on your behalf. Obviously, we always attempt to keep all of our prices as low as possible, for the benefit of our patrons.
What is your concessionary policy?
Again, concessions often depend on the policy of individual promoters. We always recommend offering discounts to those customers over 60, under 16s and students. However, this is not always the case and you should check the terms carefully when booking for each event.
What do I do if I lost / forgot my tickets?
Lost or forgotten tickets can be reprinted at a cost of 50p per ticket. If you purchased tickets through our box office, simply call and let us know. You can pick up your replacement tickets at the box office on the day of the show. We ask that you please bring identification with you. If you purchased tickets through another Box Office- you must contact them directly and arrange replacements.
How can I get put on the mailing list?
You can sign up for our mailing list or e-mail shot at the bottom of the page or you can call the box office and request that you be added. If you have been put on our mailing list or e-mail shot and wish to be taken off, please contact us immediately. If you have bought tickets from us before you will have already answered the data protection questions and indicated to us whether you wish to be included or not.
Can I hire The Bridge House Theatre or Guy Nelson Hall for my performance or other private event?
Yes, we offer packages for all kinds of private events. For pricing and quotes, please contact the Performing Arts Centre Manager on 01926 776 438.
Cameras and video cameras
Photographic cameras and camcorders should not be taken into the theatre. Flash photography is not allowed as it distracts both the cast and the audience.
Mobile phones
Please switch off all mobile phones before entering the auditorium. Ringtones are irritating and in the dark environment of the auditorium the light from the screen is distracting to both performers and your fellow audience members. Also, the radio signal can cause interference with our sound system.
Bottles and Containers
Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the theatre. Our bar offers a wide variety of beverage and snack options. You are welcome to take these into the auditorium, provided that by doing so, you do not disturb other members of the audience. In the interests of safety, glass bottles and containers are not allowed into the auditorium.
Cancelled/Postponed Events
In the rare event that a Bridge House Theatre event is postponed or cancelled, please contact our Box Office to negotiate tickets for a rescheduled performance or a full refund.
What if I want to complain to someone?
Unless it is a very serious matter, please speak to the staff in the area concerned, whether that be at the bar or the Box Office. The staff are encouraged to try and resolve matters and will be able to speed up the process of dealing with your complaint. If it is particularly serious, or if you are dissatisfied with the outcome, please ask to speak to the Duty Manager. In the case of some of our events the complaint may have to be referred on to the individual promoter. If you are not satisfied with how your complaint was dealt with on the day please contact the Performing Arts Centre Manager.
Latecomers
Latecomers may be admitted at a suitable point in the performance at the discretion of the management. The Bridge House auditorium is very intimate, so you may wish to be seated in alternative seats in the Circle until the interval to avoid disruption to the rest of the audience.
I bought my tickets from you for an event at another venue
The Bridge House Theatre often acts as a box office agency for external events at other venues.
These events are not promoted by The Bridge House Theatre and we take no responsibility for any aspect of their programme or operation. Any queries should be directed to the promoter concerned.
