History

1998

A Performing Arts Centre for Warwick School is commissioned by the Headmaster- Dr Philip Cheshire.

The theatre is designed by Michael Reardon Associates

1999

The Foundation stone is laid by Sir Ben Kingsley


2000

The theatre is opened by Dame Judi Dench

Wallace McDowell joins as Theatre Manager

The Bridge House begins to present a mixture of school and professional touring productions

2002

Richard Cooper joins as Technical Director. Richard has a wide ranging experience of technical theatre, and has toured internationally.

Edward Halse Joins Warwick School as Headmaster

A full time Box Office is implemented

Bronwyn Robertson and Alison Sutcliffe (who’d worked together at the RSC) were appointed to launch The Bridge Project. Bronwyn as Theatre Manager and Alison as Bridge Project Artistic Director

The Bridge Project was designed to produce two professional productions per year. The acting company drew on an association of professional actors; some locally based and also offered a programme of curriculum related activities for Warwick School and the wider community. Alison has worked extensively as a director, both with the RSC and as a freelancer – working in repertory, the West End and New York. The first production was Shakespeare’s The Tempest in 2005.

Bronwyn Robertson returns to the role of Theatre Manager at The Bridge House.

Judy Reaves joins as Resident Designer. Judy has worked extensively in the West End, on national tours and in repertory theatre. She has also been Head of Design at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff and the Watermill, Newbury. She is an Associate Designer for Arts Ed.

Alison Sutcliffe leaves the Bridge House Theatre and The Bridge House Project comes to an end.

Bronwyn Robertson is succeeded as Theatre Manager by David Guilding. David has worked as an actor, theatre practitioner and arts manager. He left his post as House Manager of The Anvil, Anvil Arts, Basingstoke to join The Bridge House Team.
